Week 2

Dear Perry Families,

Thank you all for a great first week of school.  Thank you to our parents for showing up on time, wearing a facemask, and having your child prepared and ready to learn.  Thank you to the Perry staff for preparing for the arrival of our students and having fun and meaningful lessons for students to learn.  A big thank you to our Perry students.  You all showed up ready to learn, motivated, and happy to back in school.  Welcome back!  We are all so happy to see you again!

Labor Day is Monday, September 6.  We hope that everyone enjoys the three-day weekend.  School will resume on Tuesday, September 7.

Please make sure that your child has a facemask to wear at all times. Please remind your child that it must fit over the nose.Parents please wear a facemask when dropping off and picking up your child. This keeps us all safe.Thank you for your consideration of the entire Perry community.

Please make sure that your child has a reusable water bottle. This is very important! With the hot weather, students need to stay hydrated. If you would like to donate a case of water to your child’s classroom, you can drop the case off in the main office during the school day .Please put the room number and teacher that it goes to and we will deliver it.

Every Wednesday is an early dismissal day for the entire school.  TK/K students are dismissed at 1:05pm.  Grades 1-5 students are dismissed at 1:15pm.  Please wait for your child at the main gate and/or the TK/K gate.

TK/K early dismissal will continue the week of September 6-September 10.  Dismissal for TK/K during this week will be at 1:05pm.  Starting the week of September 13, TK/K students will go back to early dismissal only on Wednesday.

During the morning arrival, parents please stay behind the yellow line so that we do not crowd our students.  The main gate opens at 8:50am.  The gate for rooms 14 and 15 opens at 9:05am. During dismissal, we ask once again that parents stay behind the yellow line.  This allows our classroom teachers to be able to walk out the gate and dismiss their students in front of the main gate. Room 39 dismisses from the main gate in the afternoon.  Rooms 37 and 38 dismiss from the Kindergarten gate.  Thank you for your understanding as we work through arrival and dismissal procedures.  Our number one priority is to keep our students safe.  Please do not park in the bus-loading zone in front of the school.  Please see attached letter from SDPD regarding parking and traffic violations.Allen and Fuentes Traffic letter for parents combo.docx

Thank you to all the parents who attended the “Coffee with the Principal, Counselor, and Nurse.”  For those of you who were not able to attend I have attached the final Power Point for your review.Final Virtual Coffee With the Principal 8_31, 5-6pm (8).pdf

We're Back in Class - Help Us Keep the Year Going Strong!

The first week of the new academic year was filled with new opportunities, new routines, and new faces as thousands of students returned to school full-time for the first time since the pandemic began. For many, including San Diego's youngest learners, this was their first time on a school campus.

As we celebrate a successful first week of school, our number one priority continues to be keeping students, staff, and families safe, healthy, and able to attend class each day. To ensure this, all families are being asked to complete and return the COVID-19 Testing Acknowledgement Form by Friday, September 10.

It is encouraged to opt in for this free, onsite testing for students, but it is important to submit the form even if you choose to opt out of testing.

“The goal is to have as many students learning in person at school, as safely as possible,” said Howard Taras, a UC San Diego pediatrician and San Diego Unified consulting physician.

The form can be completed online or on paper, and turned into your school's front office. To access the form, or for instructions on how to complete your form online or on paper, see "Testing Information for Students on our COVID Testing information page.
