Week 19

Good Evening Perry Families,

Congratulations to all of our students who were honored for being caring students on Friday. We are very proud of our students!

Do not forget that this coming Monday is a holiday. Happy birthday to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr! School will resume on Tuesday, January 21.

  1. This month's character trait is fairness. The next award ceremony will be Friday, February 7. Each teacher will send out an invite if your child is being honored. Please discuss with your child at home the importance of being a fair citizen. We appreciate your support.
  2. Please remember the importance of reading with your child daily, It is amazing what happens when you read with your child daily. Please see attached. Read Daily.docx
  3. You can email us now if your child is absent. We are encouraging parents to email us at perrelm@sandi.net. Please tell us your child's name, your child's teacher, the reason for the absence and the expected number of days the child will be absent. Thank you for emailing us since this will help us have written documentation of all absences. The email should be from the official email that we have on file for your child. We will continue to accept phone calls, but would prefer emails if all possible.
  4. Please be on time to pick up your child at the end of the school day. Every Wednesday school is out at 1:15pm. Every other day of the week school gets out at 3:35pm. Our teachers do an amazing job of waiting with their students, but we really need students to be picked up on time so that teachers can prepare their lessons for the next day. Students who are not picked up on time are taken to the office and parents will need to sign the child out when they pick them up. Thank you for your understanding.
  5. Traffic Patterns-Please see attached letter regarding traffic in the morning and afternoon from our school police officer.Traffic letter for Parents.pdf
  6. The Great Kindness Challenge is one week dedicated to creating a culture of kindness and compassion on campuses worldwide. Perry is proudly participating in this proactive and positive kindness initiative. All students will receive "The Great Kindness Challenge" checklist. Please encourage your child to complete as many acts of kindness as possible. We are also happy to invite YOU to participate using the Family Edition checklist. You family can complete the checklist anytime and/or anywhere. Please go to: https://thegreatkindnesschallenge.com/ Together, let us show the world that kindness matters! The week that this will be happening will be January 27-January 31, 2020.
  7. Please help us by not picking your child up within the last 20 minutes before dismissal. We would appreciate it if you would not pick up your child any time after 3:15pm. If your child is in TK/K, we would ask that you not pick them up any time after 3:05pm. At the end of the day, teachers are reviewing homework assignments and/or getting assignments together so that they can leave and be on the playground to meet families promptly. If you are running late to pick up your child please DOJO the teacher. This helps us in the front office so that we do not have to disturb the class that is preparing for dismissal. We appreciate your support with this.
