Week 20

Good Evening Perry Families,

Thank you for being on time to school. A reminder that we close the gate promptly at 9:10am. If your child comes in after 9:10am, they will need to go to the office to get a tardy slip. Thank you for making sure your child is on time and ready to learn!

Next week we will be participating in the Great Kindness Challenge. The entire staff at Perry will be focusing on the importance of being a kind and caring citizen. Let us all practice being kind to each other!

  1. This month's character trait is fairness. The next award ceremony will be Friday, February 7. Each teacher will send out an invite if your child is being honored. Please discuss with your child at home the importance of being a fair citizen. We appreciate your support.
  2. Please remember the importance of reading with your child daily, it is amazing what happens when you read with your child daily. Did you know that reading with your child daily has several benefits. Research shows that reading aloud to your child develops the brain, teaches listening skills and improves relationships between parent and child. Stay tuned Perry will be hosting a reading night in the spring. In the meantime, please take the time to read with your child daily. It is so important!
  3. You can email us now if your child is absent. We are encouraging parents to email us at Please tell us your child's name, your child's teacher, the reason for the absence and the expected number of days the child will be absent. Thank you for emailing us since this will help us have written documentation of all absences. The email should be from the official email that we have on file for your child. We will continue to accept phone calls, but would prefer emails if all possible.
  4. Please be on time to pick up your child at the end of the school day. Every Wednesday school is out at 1:15pm. Every other day of the week school gets out at 3:35pm. Our teachers do an amazing job of waiting with their students, but we really need students to be picked up on time so that teachers can prepare their lessons for the next day. Students who are not picked up on time are taken to the office and parents will need to sign the child out when they pick them up. Thank you for your understanding.
  5. The Great Kindness Challenge is one week dedicated to creating a culture of kindness and compassion on campuses worldwide. Perry is proudly participating in this proactive and positive kindness initiative. All students will receive “The Great Kindness Challenge” checklist. Please encourage your child to complete as many acts of kindness as possible. We are also happy to invite YOU to participate using the Family Edition checklist. Your family can complete the checklist anytime and/or anywhere. Please go to:

Together, let us show the world that kindness matters! The week that this will be happening will be this coming week: January 27-January 31, 2020.

  1. Please help us by not picking your child up within the last 20 minutes before dismissal. We would appreciate it if you would not pick up your child any time after 3:15pm. If your child is in TK/K, we would ask that you not pick them up any time after 3:05pm. At the end of the day, teachers are reviewing homework assignments and/or getting assignments together so that they can leave and be on the playground to meet families promptly. If you are running late to pick up your child, please DOJO the teacher. This helps us in the front office so that we do not have to disturb the class that is preparing for dismissal. We appreciate your support with this.
  2. Flu season is upon us; please remember that if your child is ill or not feeling well, we would appreciate it if you kept them home. Sending your child to school sick puts other staff and students at risk of getting sick. Thank you for understanding. Please see attached information. symptoms-of-flu-1200px600px.jpg
