Week 7

Good Evening Perry Families,

I am happy to say that I am back at Perry! I am very happy to be back, and I am looking forward to a productive school year. For those families that are new to Perry I would like to say "Welcome to Perry!" Please plan on a weekly message from me each Sunday evening. I try to let you know what is happening at school and send any school related announcements.

I was out on a medical leave so I am behind on my Sunday messages. I will now be starting with week 7. Each Sunday message will be posted on our website after it is sent to the families via email.

Congratulations to all of our students being honored this past Friday for being "responsible." We are so proud of you! Thank you for being excellent students and setting a good example to the entire Perry community!

Just a quick reminder that Federal Survey cards need to be turned as soon as possible. THANK YOU for making this a priority!

Announcements:

  1. Federal Survey cards went home on Wednesday. Please take the time to fill these out. The more survey cards that are returned to the school, the more funding our school will receive. Please help us by returning the survey card to your child's teacher. The first classroom that returns all their federal survey cards will get a pizza party! We really appreciate your help and it will benefit your child by adding to our school budget. Thank you!
  2. Our security door is designed for use during school hours. Please help us by using the gate next to the kindergarten rooms before and after school. We appreciate your help with this.
  3. A big Perry welcome to our two new teachers joining the Perry Family. Ms. Nokes will be teaching first grade in room 19. Ms. Wiseman, our new education specialist will be teaching students in room 5. We are excited to have them join the Perry community and welcome them!
  4. Class reorganization for students in grades K-3. It is possible that we will need to reorganize classrooms due to some classrooms having too many students and other classrooms having less students. In our efforts to balance the student count in our classrooms, we may have to move some students to new classrooms. We realize that this change is inconvenient, but we are committed to providing the best educational program at Perry. If we do have to make changes, it will be in the next couple of weeks. Your child will be getting a letter letting you know about the changes and their new classroom assignments. We appreciate your support and understanding with this process.
  5. I am attaching the Calendar for October for Paradise Hill Library. I am also attaching a flyer for a "fun for the entire family" workshop - "Sugar Skull Painting." There is another flyer for the library NEXT workshop called "Discovering the Mysteries of Kelp Forests". This event is a science presentation for grades 3rd, 4th and 5th. Please see attached flyers.PH October.pdf FA19-DISCOVERING THE MYSTERIES OF KELP FORESTS-PARADISE HILLS-OCTOBER-19.pdf2019 PH Sugar Skulls.pdf
  6. If you would like to be a classroom volunteer at Perry Elementary, we will need a copy of a valid ID and a negative TB test result with your application. You can also take a TB questionnaire-screening test that can be administered by our school nurse. Nurse Rivo is here Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Please understand that we cannot clear incomplete applications. All volunteer applications need to be submitted two months prior to a class field trip. No volunteer applications will be accepted after April 30, 2020.
  7. The Choice application period for school year 2019-2020 is now open and will close on November 13, 2019. Please see attached letter for more information regarding school choice enrollment. Choice Letter.pdf
  8. This month's character trait is respect. The next award ceremony will be on Friday, October 8. Each teacher will send out an invite if your child is being honored. Please discuss with your child at home the importance of being a respectful citizen. We appreciate your support.
  9. Extra support at PE is needed. If you are able to volunteer to help Coach De Perro on Wednesday, it would be greatly appreciated. On Wednesday, we allow our teachers to meet in grade levels during PE time. Any extra support during this time is greatly appreciated. Please email Coach De Perro is you are able to help with this at: rdeperro@sandi.net.
